Early Valentine’s Day Gift

Instead of buying each other gifts for Valentine’s Day this year, Travis and I decided to get something new for the house. We have really ugly light fixtures, EVERYWHERE. Lots of 90’s style gold with blonde wood.

We went to Lowe’s and picked out a new one to put in the living room! Travis and I both like dark wood with silver or bronze finishing.

I didn’t take a good “before” picture. This is the best one I could find (the day we took ownership of the house).

Travis surprised me at how good he was with the electrical work required to change a light fixture. I, on the other hand, was not very helpful.

I told Travis to smile for the blog. This is the look I get.

SInce Uno and I are not the most handy, we cuddled and occasionally handed Travis tools he needed.

I have the world’s best dog!

Getting closer! It was at this point Travis and I took a break to dance to “Beauty and the Beast” around the room. Since seeing Frozen last week, we have been on a Disney music kick and almost constantly listening to Disney on Pandora.

All done and it works!

It has bronze finishing. The blades are reversible as well. The other side has a more cherry colored wood.

This look SO much better than what was there before!

After all Travis’ hard work, I made us some Amaretto sours (with pineapple juice instead of orange juice). 20140201-165459.jpg

Now for a little afternoon reading and cuddling! Saturdays are the best!

Happy early Valentine’s Day to my man! I love you so much! Thank you for everything you do, especially if it requires handy work around the house 🙂

  1. The best part of the story? Amarretto sours and Uno……and Travis the Handyman…..and you for telling the story…..oh all right, all of it! Sheesh…..

PS. Your next blog should be about coming to DSM and getting your armoire (or whatever is in my garage – see? It’s been in there so long, I can’t remember what it is)………..JK………
